Stefanishyna declares ‘I have nothing to hide’ after anti-graft suspicion notice

On August 5, former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna declared she had nothing to hide following a formal notice of suspicion from Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies. The notice was issued by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).

In her Facebook post, Stefanishyna acknowledged that the media had frequently raised the issue of procedural actions involving her name. She emphasized that any procedural step is part of law enforcement's lawful work, not a finding of guilt. Stefanishyna remained calm and did not express undue emotion about the situation.

The diplomat stated that she had previously addressed many questions about her real estate more than a year ago and had provided journalists with relevant documents concerning her apartment. Stefanishyna affirmed that she had nothing to hide and still had nothing to hide. She had dedicated over a decade to serving the state, and she claimed that some had imagined her diplomatic service abroad would create a convenient distance between her and uncomfortable questions.

However, Stefanishyna clarified that her mission had been completed successfully, and she was in Ukraine to answer those questions. She firmly defended her position and had no doubt about the outcome. Additionally, she posted a photo from an Aug. 5 hearing at the High Anti-Corruption Court.
