Former Ukraine envoy Stefanishyna served illicit enrichment suspicion notice — AntAC

Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, received a notice of suspicion from the Anti-Corruption Action Center (AntAC) on August 5th, alleging involvement in illicit enrichment. The notice was issued by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).

A court is currently evaluating the necessary pretrial restrictions. Stefanishyna's legal team requested the High Anti-Corruption Court to conduct the hearing in private, according to AntAC. A SAPO prosecutor detailed instances where individuals allegedly obtained property at Stefanishyna's direction, while she allegedly omitted two one-bedroom apartments, expenses for apartment renovations, her mother’s medical treatment, airline tickets, and rent for another apartment from her asset declaration.

Stefanishyna is also accused of not disclosing her use of a Mercedes registered to a subordinate. She previously received a similar notice in a NABU case involving former Justice Minister Olena Lukash, an ally of Viktor Yanukovych, which is now before the High Anti-Corruption Court. Lukash and others in the case are alleged to have misappropriated 2,523,000 hryvnias allocated in 2013–2014 for EU law alignment.

In July 2026, media reported Stefanishyna had requested to leave her diplomatic role for personal reasons. On July 12th, Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksii Honcharenko reported NABU might issue her with a notice of suspicion. Investigative journalist Yurii Nikolov, citing non-NABU sources, indicated a notice of suspicion may be prepared regarding Stefanishyna’s income, potentially involving an apartment or a car.

Stefanishyna confirmed on August 3rd that she intended to resign from her position as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States for personal reasons.
