SpaceX claims Starlink Mobile will be better than AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon

SpaceX has ambitious plans for its Starlink Mobile service, aiming to outperform industry giants AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, according to recent statements by the company's leadership. The satellite internet provider has already forged partnerships with conventional mobile carriers, enhancing their networks with Starlink's satellite coverage, primarily to bridge coverage gaps in underserved areas where traditional cell towers are absent.

However, SpaceX is set to venture further by acquiring spectrum licenses that would allow it to provide its own terrestrial service, directly competing with the established carriers. In a recent earnings call, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell clarified their strategy, stating that the recently purchased spectrum indeed includes terrestrial components.

She emphasized their commitment to building out the necessary hardware and systems to deliver a comprehensive mobile service, promising a user experience that could potentially rival that of the big three carriers.
