Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv kills one and injures others

Russian missiles and drones struck Kyiv on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to at least 12 others, according to Kyiv's military administration. The head of the military administration, Timur Tkachenko, stated that the enemy has been conducting "massive attacks" on the Kyiv region, targeting both residential buildings and warehouses.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko expressed concern over potential casualties trapped under debris following strikes on the city center. The assault came amid an escalation in attacks on Kyiv over recent weeks, with air raid alerts remaining active for over an hour as waves of ballistic missiles impacted the city and its outskirts. Tkachenko urged citizens to heed air raid sirens and protect themselves and their families.

The latest barrage of strikes follows a trend of increased Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, including power facilities and Wildberries e-commerce warehouses. A drone attack in the Moscow region on Tuesday claimed five lives and injured 10, while a beach in southern Krasnodar saw seven fatalities and 58 injuries in a drone strike the previous day.

Ukraine has condemned a video showing civilians being chased by a drone in Kherson, calling it a deliberate "hunt" and "safari" targeting civilians. Both nations deny deliberately targeting non-combatants. Ukraine has called for additional Patriot missile interceptors from allies to bolster defenses against Russian ballistic missiles.
