Road rage controversy: Karnataka High Court transfers Malur judge to Humnabad

The High Court of Karnataka has transferred Principal Civil Judge and JMFC Gayathri from Malur in Kolar district to Humnabad in Bidar district, citing "administrative reasons and in the interest of public service." This move follows allegations of her misconduct in a road rage incident involving her private car in Malur. The video of the altercation, which had gone viral on social media, sparked outrage.

After filing a complaint against a youth, his mother, and grandmother, Judge Gayathri issued an order permitting police to delete the viral videos from social media. When the youth and his family challenged the First Information Report (FIR) based on her complaint, a single-judge bench of the High Court stayed the FIR and criticized her for presiding over the criminal case initiated by her own complaint.

The bench directed that the matter be referred to the Chief Justice for potential administrative action against her.
