Pope Leo to visit Uruguay, Argentina and Peru in November, says Vatican

Pope Leo, the first US-born pontiff of Catholic faith, will embark on a significant journey from November 6 to 17, visiting Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. This trip marks a major milestone for the Catholic leader who previously served as a missionary and bishop in Peru for several decades before ascending to the papacy last year.

The itinerary for the Pope's visit includes a 3-day stint in Uruguay from November 6 to 8, focusing on Montevideo, Paysandú, and Florida. Moving on to Argentina, he will spend 3 days in Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Lujan, followed by a 7-day visit to Peru from November 11 to 17. During this period, the Pope will pay visits to key locations such as Chiclayo, Lima, Cusco, and Pucallpa.

In Peru, the Pope's itinerary includes stops at Chiclayo, Lima, Cusco, and Pucallpa, showcasing his connection to the country where he served as bishop of Chiclayo from 2015 to 2023. While the Vatican has not disclosed the full details of the Pope's itinerary, it is expected that the final schedule will be released closer to the dates of the visits. Notably, this will be the first visit by a Catholic pope to South America since Pope Francis made a trip to Chile and Peru in 2018.
