Osun disburses palliatives to civil servants

The Osun State Government has recently released another round of palliative payments to civil servants throughout the state, aiming to enhance workers' welfare and alleviate the effects of economic difficulties. Governor Ademola Adeleke's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, revealed the disbursement in a statement on the state’s X handle, asserting that the action demonstrates the administration's dedication to supporting public servants.

Rasheed explained that the Adeleke government initiated periodic palliative payments prior to enacting the new minimum wage, positioning Osun as one of the earliest states in the federation to adopt this approach. The government also highlighted the stark contrast between its record on workers' welfare and that of the preceding administration, which Rasheed described as having "weaponized poverty and systematically deprived civil servants of their earned salaries and entitlements."

The continued payment of palliatives is part of a broader strategy to rebuild confidence in the public service, boost staff morale, attract qualified personnel, and improve service delivery to the people of Osun.
