Garbage workers in Bitonto, Italy, made a miraculous discovery when they unearthed a €1 million lottery ticket hidden within a truckload of trash. The woman who won the jackpot had unknowingly discarded her ticket in her family's waste bin before realizing she had hit the jackpot. The winning numbers, 2, 4, 8, 10, and 51, had been consistently used by the woman, who believed they were associated with a loved one.

The waste management company, SANB, received a panicked call from the woman, who had mistakenly believed her ticket was non-payable. SANB administrator Roberto Nicola Toscano recounted the harrowing journey to locate the ticket, which involved identifying the correct truck and carefully sifting through the collected waste at a specially equipped site.

The search, fraught with potential hazards, took a single day to uncover the ticket. Toscano credited the teamwork, organization, and a touch of luck that made this extraordinary event possible. The woman, overjoyed upon learning of the discovery, promised to cover any additional costs incurred during the search, as the operation is a public responsibility.
