Gabungan longgar dengan PH boleh direalisasi jika berprinsip, kata PSM dan Muda

Two leaders from Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) and Muda have claimed that a non-partisan alliance with Pakatan Harapan (PH) could be realized if it is based on principles and clear renewal. Arutchelvan, deputy chairman of PSM, acknowledged the failure of PSM and Muda's relationship with PH in the past, which might have led to less alignment among their members, in line with previous party congress decisions.

However, he did not rule out the possibility of revisiting the idea based on new political developments and shifts. PSM, according to him, prioritizes forming a progressive bloc in the long term to prevent the public from being consistently trapped in political alliances that are only established during elections. “For PSM, we feel more the need for a progressive bloc in the long term so that the public is not fooled and the progressive narrative that is not genuinely racial is truly lived, not only during PRU or PRN,” he said.

He also discussed Tajuddin Rasdi's suggestion for PH to form a non-partisan alliance with all progressive-minded parties like Muda, Bersatu, PSM, and not to base ideology on ethnicity or religion, as it would show the public that PH truly wants to lead progressive politics and the country forward. This comes after the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) dominated 25 out of 36 DUN seats in the recent Johor state poll.

However, PH and BN are working together in a unity government appointed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Arutchelvan acknowledged that such cooperation could attract more voter support, but PSM needs to consider possible compromises that may have to be made when joining other parties. "The party needs to make a just and reasonable consideration so that the goal of unity does not betray the struggle and aspirations of the party," he added.

Meanwhile, Muda's Secretary-General Ainie Haziqah Shafii urged progressive parties to overlook differences and sit at the same table to discuss cooperation ahead of PRU16. She stressed that Muda is ready to hold discussions with any party sharing progressive ideas and principles.
