Asus and Gigabyte just made your next RTX 50 GPU even more expensive

Two major GPU manufacturers, Asus and Gigabyte, have announced significant price increases for their RTX 50 series cards. The price hikes affect all models in the line, including the top-of-the-line Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090D V2, which has seen a $592 to $666 increase from Gigabyte and Asus, respectively. Even entry-level cards like the GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 have seen revisions of $44 and $141 added to their prices.

While Gigabyte appears to be providing some relief to customers, Asus is passing on the increased component costs more aggressively. The rising GPU prices have now reached a point where they are near doubling the original launch cost. This trend continues to accelerate, making it crucial for potential buyers to act quickly if they wish to purchase a new GPU.

Microsoft has recently discontinued Windows 11's Drag Tray feature, a tool designed to facilitate quick file sharing. Users found the feature to be more frustrating than helpful due to conflicts with existing file dragging practices. In response, OpenAI has introduced Private Safety Processing, a system aimed at detecting suspicious behavior across multiple AI interactions while preserving Zero Data Retention for eligible API customers.

This new system aims to close the gap in frontier-model performance against competitors like Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol, without compromising user privacy.
