Air defense tech: Ukraine unveils new drone interceptor

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently shared a video depicting a civilian being pursued and struck by a Russian drone in Kherson. The footage, Zelenskyy claimed, should be seen by the world to reveal Russia's soldiers taking "pleasure in killing and abusing civilians." The drone, armed with explosives, pursued a man selling vegetables on the roadside before detonating "right beside him."

The video shows the drone circling the individual as they attempt to escape, eventually flying towards him and exploding. Zelenskyy labeled the incident as another example of Russian "drone 'safari' targeting civilians in Kherson." Yurii, the man involved, survived with shrapnel wounds to his torso, legs, arms, and a concussion, according to a doctor who provided a post-op interview in a video shared by Kherson region head Oleksandr Prokudin.

In the footage, Yurii explained that he attempted to communicate with the drone operators, informing them he was there to sell vegetables. "I was showing it, saying, 'Look, vegetables.' But it started coming straight at me," Yurii stated. "I started running, it hit the vehicle, and I was right next to it." On Wednesday, Russian drone strikes in and around Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, resulted in at least 15 deaths and numerous injuries, according to authorities.

Kyiv's military administration reported that the barrage of missiles and drones targeted residential buildings and warehouses. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv region military administration, posted on Telegram, "Kyiv region experienced one of its most tragic enemy attacks yet again tonight." Tkachenko emphasized that "Russia has once again brought death and destruction to our land, taking the lives of civilians. Just accountability will certainly follow for every such crime."
