Russian forces launch Iskander missile, 100+ drones in overnight attack against Ukraine

On August 4, Russian forces initiated an overnight assault against Ukraine, employing an Iskander ballistic missile and 136 UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmaz, Banderol, and Parodiya decoy drones. The attacks emanated from multiple locations within Russia and occupied territories, such as Millerovo, Orel, Donetsk, Hvardiiske, and Chauda.

Throughout the night, Ukrainian air defenses successfully neutralized 117 enemy UAVs across the north, south, and east. The Iskander missile and 14 UAVs struck at 14 distinct locations, while debris from shot-down drones landed in three areas.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported jets of jet-powered drones approaching Kyiv Oblast and the capital city in the early hours of August 4. One drone was observed moving westward toward Kyiv Oblast near Poltava Oblast, while another group of drones operated south of Chernihiv, also on a direct trajectory towards Kyiv Oblast.

In a separate incident, Russian guided aerial bombs targeted Sumy overnight on August 4, resulting in the tragic deaths of three individuals – two girls aged 5 and 10, and a 75-year-old woman.
