Recent diplomatic efforts aim to prevent the escalation of the Iran conflict following US President Donald Trump's recent threats against Iran. Madsjid al-Ansari, a spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, said in Doha that diplomatic efforts are underway and already advanced. A solution for shipping in the Hormuz Strait is reportedly imminent, according to both Qatar and the US.

Talks between Israel and Lebanon continue in Rome, working towards the implementation of their security agreement. The possibility of reopening the Strait of Hormuz is mentioned, with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent expressing optimism that an agreement could be reached today or tomorrow, allowing for free passage. However, Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson later clarified that an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz has not been reached yet.

In a meeting on Monday, Trump reiterated his threat against Tehran, offering them "every last chance before execution". He proposed opening the key Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Oman before addressing the nuclear dispute. Iran reportedly has schemes for a roundabout route through Iranian and Omani territorial waters, but US defense officials have reservations about this solution, citing the many Iranian mines still deployed in Omani waters.

The solution would allow Iran to control which ships enter the Persian Gulf and potentially deny passage to warships, while also enabling the Islamic Republic to collect fees for entry. Despite the absence of direct aggression between the US and Iran, a freighter was attacked in the Hormuz Strait overnight, highlighting ongoing tensions.

The Strait of Hormuz saw only nine ships pass through on Monday, according to data from Kpler, a German information provider. On average, about 16 ships pass through the strait daily. The Hormuz Strait has been affected by attacks from Saudi Arabia, which is allied with Iran, and the Houthi militia in Yemen. Israel and Lebanon have also been engaged in renewed hostilities since early March, with over 4,000 people killed in Lebanon.

Direct talks between Israel and Lebanon resumed in Rome, focusing on the implementation of their security agreement, including the relocation of an underground tunnel system belonging to Hezbollah. The agreement also calls for disarming Hezbollah, but neither point has been implemented. The seventh round of talks is set to continue until Thursday.
