Coventry sign Brighton goalkeeper Rushworth after loan

Coventry City have secured the signature of goalkeeper Carl Rushworth from Brighton & Hove Albion through a reported £22m loan deal. Neither club has disclosed the exact fee or the length of Rushworth's new long-term contract. During his time at Coventry last season, the 25-year-old played in all 46 league games, contributing to a remarkable 17 clean sheets as they clinched the Championship, ending a 25-year absence from the Premier League.

Rushworth expressed his happiness, stating, "I'm really happy, there's so many emotions that I've got," adding, "There's excitement, I can finally relax knowing it's done and that I'm back with the boys and at a club I loved being at." It's worth noting that Rushworth never made a senior appearance for Brighton, having experienced six loan spells over seven years after joining Halifax Town in 2019.

Manager Frank Lampard commented, "It's great to have Carl back with us on a permanent basis. He's a top professional, a great character, and he had a huge impact on the team to help us get promoted last season."
