Oluwo Ishola Akeem, Secretary of the Oloolu compound in Ibadan, Oyo State, has explained the reasons behind the spiritual cleansing of TikToker Wasilat Olalere. Akeem spoke to an African culture platform, Surprise Entertainment, during an interview at the Oloolu family compound. The incident occurred after Olalere posted a TikTok video of the annual Oloolu masquerade festival, which violated longstanding customs.

The video, captioned "This is Oloolu at Sokoto area," showed the followers and entourage of the revered masquerade. Following the controversy, Olalere underwent traditional cleansing rites at the Oloolu family compound and apologized, deleting the video from her TikTok page, claiming she regretted her actions. Akeem revealed that Olalere had attempted to film the masquerade in previous years but was unsuccessful.

This time, she disguised herself as a man to capture the event. The Oloolu tradition remains sacred, and Akeem warned against violating its taboos, emphasizing that any transgression would result in repercussions.
