Tori Amos Honors Glen Hansard with “Falling Slowly” Cover: Watch

During her concert at Boston's Leader Bank Pavilion on Friday night, Tori Amos honored the memory of the late Irish musician Glen Hansard with a tribute to his band's hit song "Falling Slowly." This marked Amos' first known live performance of the track. Witness the heartfelt tribute in the fan-shot footage below. Hansard co-wrote the song with Markéta Irglová for the Swell Season's 2006 self-titled album, which later gained widespread recognition after being featured in the film Once.

The poignant ballad won the duo an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2008. Tragically, Hansard passed away in a motorcycle accident in Dublin on July 29th. Since his death, numerous artists and public figures, including President of Ireland Catherine Connolly, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Warren Ellis, and Sharon Van Etten, have shared their tributes.

Among those paying their respects, Barack Obama even started his 2026 summer playlist with Hansard's "Song of Good Hope." A public wake for Hansard is scheduled for August 3rd in Dublin, followed by a funeral service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on August 4th. Meanwhile, Amos continues her North American tour promoting her latest album, In Times of Dragons, released in May.
