Minister of Works, David Umahi, has dismissed calls for his dismissal in the wake of the death of a female staff member at his private residence, stating that President Bola Tinubu instead directed him to continue building infrastructure. The incident involving Mary Habila, a staff member at the Federal Ministry of Works, sparked widespread outrage on social media, with some users demanding his removal from office.

Umahi addressed these calls in a video that went viral on X, asserting that power and might do not belong to social media, but rather to God. He noted that when the death of one of his staff members became politicized, the president surprised everyone by advising him to build more roads. Although Umahi did not delve into the ongoing investigation into Habila's death, he reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his duties.
