Uefa threatens Fifa with legal action over investment plan

The Union of European Football Associations (Uefa) has issued a warning regarding the scrapped investment plans proposed by Fifa president Gianni Infantino. Infantino's intentions to sell shares of Fifa competitions to private investors have been met with criticism from various football governing bodies. Uefa and Concacaf have publicly criticized Infantino's plans, with Wales being the first nation to withdraw its support for Infantino's bid to continue as Fifa president.

Fifa and Infantino aimed to establish a commercial subsidiary, known as Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE), which would oversee the main events, including the World Cups. External investors would have had the opportunity to acquire minority stakes in FFE. According to The Telegraph, Uefa has informed Infantino that it is actively exploring legal action, arbitration, and potential regulatory complaints regarding the FFE plan.

Uefa has also requested immediate steps to identify, locate, and preserve all relevant documents and electronically stored information in Infantino's or Fifa's possession.
