Sen. Bernie Moreno Says Former Son-in-Law Max Miller Shouldn’t Serve in Congress

U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno, whose daughter claims her ex-husband Rep. Max Miller (R, Ohio) committed domestic and child abuse, declared that Miller should not hold elected office and should seek professional help. Moreno argued that Miller fails basic standards of character required for elected officials, stating that "he should not serve in the House of Representatives."

This statement came after Miller defended himself on a Sunday livestream, denying the allegations. Miller married his ex-wife Emily Moreno in 2022, and they have a daughter together. In his statement, Moreno revealed he had hoped to keep the matter private for his family’s safety, but Miller’s "increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior" has made that impossible.

Moreno believes Miller requires professional help to end a clear pattern of abuse. Miller is currently running for reelection in Ohio’s 7th district, facing Democratic nominee Brian Poindexter. Democrats have seized the opportunity to investigate Miller’s private life and allegations against him.
