Search continues for two missing in Kannur

The search for two individuals missing in Kannur, R. Rajesh and V.P. Hanifa, continues. Rajesh, from Kalliyoor in Thiruvananthapuram, went missing in Meenthully near the Kariangode river, while Hanifa was swept away in Kanhirapuzha. A 12-member team of expert swimmers from Turkey Life Saving Committee in Kalpetta joined the search, beginning operations at 7 a.m. They covered approximately 500 metres downstream from Thondayil bridge, where Hanifa was last seen.

Fire and rescue services personnel from Peravoor, Mattanur, and Kuthuparamba also assisted, along with civil defense volunteers. As the rainfall eased on Monday, river levels dropped and water clarity improved, enhancing search conditions. Thalassery Sub-Collector Prakashan C.V. and Irrity Tahsildar N. Seema oversaw the operations.

For Rajesh's search, teams combed riverbanks, islets, rocky stretches, and extended efforts to the Palavayal bridge downstream.
