Scuffle and chaos mar MQM-P meeting as two groups clash at party's office in Karachi's Bahadurabad

Karachi witnessed a chaotic scene as a meeting of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) at its headquarters in Bahadurabad turned into a violent clash between supporters of rival factions within the party. At least four individuals sustained injuries, with one person reportedly suffering a gunshot wound. Police presence was reported as the situation unfolded, with officers attempting to maintain order and prevent the situation from worsening.

The confrontation erupted around 7:20 pm after Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui departed from the meeting, triggering a brawl between workers representing two factions led by Anis Qaimkhani and Mustafa Kamal, as well as those backing Dr Siddiqui and Aminul Haque. The cause of the disagreement remains unclear, though reports indicate that members of the Qaimkhani faction allegedly assaulted those associated with the Siddiqui group and forcibly removed them from the party's headquarters.

Later, the Siddiqui group members congregated in a nearby park, where some leaders attempted to organize a press conference. However, the gathering did not materialize. By 10 pm, the leaders had departed the party headquarters, and the workers dispersed, with police maintaining a presence at the scene but not making any arrests.

Sindh government spokesperson Sadia Javed criticized the incident, emphasizing the failure to maintain unity within Sindh and the recent division among the party's factions.
