WhatsApp may soon move business messages to separate 'Offers & Updates' folder

WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that aims to help users maintain a tidy message list by automatically moving messages from large businesses into a separate folder named "Offers & Updates" after a certain period of time. According to a report by GSM Arena, this feature is designed to tackle the common problem of large business conversations cluttering the main inbox, making it difficult to locate personal chats.

The testing feature will transfer messages from large businesses into the "Offers & Updates" folder after a predetermined number of hours, with the duration ranging up to 24 hours. Users will have the option to disable the feature via the app settings, but they won't be able to set their own duration. Instead, they will either accept the time frame chosen by Meta or turn the feature off entirely.

WhatsApp's main objective for this new folder is to keep promotional content, such as discount codes and delivery updates, separate from personal chats, resulting in a more organized messaging experience. Currently, the functionality is limited to messages from large businesses, while small businesses and personal accounts are not affected. Further, WhatsApp reportedly plans to expand the feature to messages from small businesses in the future.

As of now, the feature is still in the testing phase, and there is no information available on when it might be rolled out to a wider user base.
