'Spider-Man 4' becomes fastest 2026 film to top 2 mln admissions in S. Korea

SEOUL (Aug. 1) -- The newest Spider-Man film, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," has become the quickest movie of 2026 to reach 2 million viewers in South Korea, hitting the mark just three days after its debut, according to the film's local distributor. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the fourth installment featuring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, achieved this feat on Saturday morning, surpassing the previous record set by "Hope," a 2026 sci-fi thriller.

"Hope" required four days to accumulate the same number of admissions after its July 15 release. The distributor revealed that "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" also stands out as the fastest foreign film released in South Korea since 2023 to achieve 2 million admissions. The movie follows an adult Peter Parker as he deals with new adversaries while struggling with the fact that he has been forgotten by those around him, including his girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned.
