Several people killed in explosion at Moscow restaurant, Russian officials say

An explosion at a Moscow restaurant on Saturday killed three people and injured 21 others, Russia's national anti-terrorism committee confirmed, according to Tass state news agency. The attack was identified as a bombing, carried out using a homemade explosive device. The victims were a woman who carried the device into the restaurant, a security agent who attempted to stop her, and a customer, the committee revealed.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described the incident as a "brutal terrorist act," without naming the perpetrator. The injured victims are currently receiving necessary medical care in Moscow hospitals, with the 21 wounded suffering injuries of varying severity, as stated by the anti-terrorism committee. The Moscow Investigative Committee stated that the attack is still under investigation and no group has publicly claimed responsibility.

Images from Russian Telegram channels showed emergency vehicles outside the restaurant. Russia has experienced numerous terrorist incidents recently, including attacks on Russian military officers and public figures supporting the conflict with Ukraine since its outbreak in 2022.
