Homemade bomb goes off outside upscale Moscow restaurant state officials say

On Saturday night, a homemade bomb detonated outside an upscale restaurant in central Moscow, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals, including the suspected bomber, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. The explosion occurred at the entrance of the restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square, claiming the lives of the woman who attempted to enter with the device and a security guard who stopped her.

The attack claimed the life of one restaurant patron as well, as at least 21 other people were injured in the blast. The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. local time, and the restaurant had been closed for a private event that evening.

Moscow's authorities have launched an investigation into the brutal terrorist attack, with law enforcement agencies working to identify those responsible. Russia's Anti-Terrorism Committee has stated that they will find and punish those behind the crime. So far, no Ukrainian involvement has been attributed to the Kudrinskaya Square blast.

Russia has experienced several attacks since the commencement of the war in Ukraine in 2022, with many of them attributed to Kyiv. However, Ukraine has also retaliated, employing drones in attacks on Russian soil. On the same day as the Moscow restaurant explosion, Ukraine launched drone strikes against Russia, including one that targeted an apartment building in Engels, killing two people.

Additionally, Ukraine struck a Wildberries warehouse in the Samara Oblast, causing damage to the facility. Overall, Russia reported over 100 Ukrainian strikes in the Belgorod Oblast and claimed to have shot down more than 200 Ukrainian drones during the wave of attacks.
