Negara tidak harus jadi mangsa ‘kolonialisme teknologi’, kata Fahmi

Malaysia has urged for respect for the sovereignty of each nation in determining telecommunications standards, warning of the threat of technological imperialism, where more advanced parties determine how other countries develop and use digital infrastructure. The Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil emphasized that each country should have the freedom to determine its own technology direction, particularly as geopolitical competition and rival digital ecosystems increasingly impact global telecommunications development.

At a Ministers' level panel discussion at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Doha 2026, Fahmi stressed that no country should impose its technology standards on others, as every nation has its own sovereignty and should be entitled to determine its own standards.
