Wizards’ Trae Young returns to Atlanta vs. Hawks and says the experience was ‘different’

Atlanta (AP) — Trae Young, the Washington Wizards' star player, returned to his former team, the Atlanta Hawks, in a game on Friday night. Young was introduced last, took the court before tipoff, and hugged Hawks coach Quin Snyder before the game. Young expressed that the experience was "different" and "cool" for him. He scored 23 points, dished out 10 assists, but also made eight turnovers against the Hawks.

Young, who was traded to the Wizards in January, has been the franchise's all-time leader in assists and 3-pointers during his seven-plus seasons with the Hawks. He returned to Atlanta last year but had to sit out due to an injured knee. This time, Young was healthy and ready to play. Despite a muted response from the crowd when he was introduced, Young felt a special connection with his former coach.
