CBI Catches West Central Railway Engineer Red-Handed Taking ₹45,000 Bribe, Allegedly Demanded ₹1,500 Per Labourer To Retain 30 Workers In MP’s Katni

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended West Central Railway (WCR) senior section engineer Ajayveer Singh in New Katni Junction for accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000, officials announced on Friday. This case originated from a complaint filed on November 5, alleging that Singh demanded Rs 1,500 from 30 labourers in return for retaining their employment.

Following the complaint, the CBI set up a sting operation and arrested Singh while he was demanding and taking Rs 45,000 from the complainant at Katni. Subsequent to the arrest, CBI officials conducted searches at Singh's residence and office to gather evidence. Singh was brought before a court in Jabalpur, where he was granted bail until November 12.

The alleged bribe was reportedly sought to prevent the removal of the 30 labourers from their work, as per the complaint lodged by the investigating agency.
