Western Railway Mumbai Central Division Sets Record With ₹80.38 Lakh Single-Day Ticket Checking Revenue

On November 6, 2026, Western Railway's Mumbai Central division achieved its highest single-day revenue from ticket checking, collecting ₹80.38 lakh amid the festive season. This marked a 17.3% increase from the previous record of ₹68.54 lakh set on April 30, 2026, and a 45.1% growth compared to the previous year's peak of ₹55.40 lakh on October 19, 2025.

The record collection occurred during Operation Deep, a 15-day intensive ticket-checking drive conducted from October 31 to November 14 across Mumbai division. The drive aimed to curb ticketless and irregular travel, improve ticket-checking revenue, and ensure better utilization of available staff during peak passenger movement.

On the record-breaking day, the ticket-checking team detected 8,600 cases, resulting in the collection of ₹80.38 lakh in revenue. Of this, 36% came from Surat squads, generating ₹29 lakh, while flying squads contributed around ₹20 lakh, and the AC Local squad contributed roughly ₹2.7 lakh. The remaining revenue was contributed by sleeper, sub-local, and station teams.
