In 1998, a new horror film called Jaani Dushman: Darr Ke Aage Maut Hai was announced, starring Bhumi Pednekar. This film and its predecessors, Jaani Dushman (1979) and Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani (2002), were directed by Rajkumar Kohli but had distinct differences. The 1979 version was a blockbuster starring a star-studded cast, while the 2002 sequel was a meme-fest due to its illogical scenes and Hollywood-inspired visuals.
The upcoming Jaani Dushman, directed by Arshad Syed, is scheduled for release in 2027 and may be a horror-comedy, according to its tagline "Darr Ke Aage Maut Hai."
