Three die, seven injured in Ogun road crashes

Three people lost their lives and seven sustained injuries in two separate road accidents along the Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway and the Ota–Idiroko Road in Ogun State. The incidents occurred on Saturday at the Kam Steel axis of the Sagamu–Ikorodu Highway and the Agarawu, Winners axis of the Ota–Idiroko Road.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency confirmed the accidents in a traffic update on Saturday. According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the agency, the first crash happened at the Kam Steel axis around 4.10pm. A patrol van, which had emerged from the Kam Steel access road onto the highway, collided with a tricycle, causing it to overturn. The collision left one woman dead and two other women injured. The victims were transported to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu.

A few hours later, at around 3.25pm, another accident occurred at the Agarawu, Winners axis of the Ota–Idiroko Road. This accident involved a yellow Howo truck and a TVS tricycle. The cause of the crash was attributed to brake failure, which made the truck driver lose control, leading to a collision with the tricycle. Two individuals, a man and a woman, died in this accident, while five others were injured. The injured were also taken to the General Hospital in Ifo for treatment.
