Sindh to Build New 600-Bed Hospital Offering Free Treatment

The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has begun construction on a new 600-bed hospital in Larkana, Sindh, which is set to be completed by 2028. The hospital will provide free medical treatment to the residents of Larkana and nearby underserved areas. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was present at the ceremony where Project Director Yasir Bhatti gave an update on the project.

Bilawal highlighted the pressing need for a new hospital after visiting Chandka Hospital during his election campaign. He explained that Chandka Hospital, built in the 1970s, is now overcrowded and serves patients from Larkana and surrounding cities. The new facility aims to alleviate the growing demand for healthcare services in the region.

Additionally, residents will have access to medical treatment through the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

Beyond the hospital project, Bilawal announced plans to enhance water supply and sewerage services in Larkana. Work has commenced on restoring and expanding the Ratodero water supply scheme, and the city's sewerage system will be upgraded to cater to its needs for the next 25 years. The feasibility study for Larkana's water supply, sewerage, and rainwater drainage project has been finalized, aiming to provide clean drinking water to every household within two years.

Meanwhile, 50 percent of the Shahdadkot sewerage scheme has been completed, with the remaining work expected to be finished by next year. Bilawal also emphasized the Sindh government's commitment to higher education, currently allocating Rs. 45 billion to universities, with plans to increase funding.
