Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim extended his warm wishes for Deepavali to the celebratory community in Malaysia. In his message on Facebook, he emphasized that the celebration of Deepavali should serve as a means to strengthen unity, bridge gaps between communities, and instill values of compassion and concern for those in need. Recognizing the diverse cultural and traditional backgrounds that make up the society, Anwar stressed the importance of continually reinforcing the virtues of respect, understanding, and acceptance of differences.

He hopes that this year's Deepavali will spark a fresh sense of enthusiasm and progress, fostering a more open-minded, pure, and forward-thinking mindset. By doing so, it could elevate the status of the people and reinforce national harmony. Anwar wished the celebrants a joyous, peaceful, and prosperous Deepavali, expressing his belief that the festival symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, goodness over wickedness, and knowledge liberating humanity from ignorance and prejudice.
