Renovated bus terminus in Ranipet town opened for public use
Work to restore the terminus was started in 2022
After four years of renovation, the renovated ₹13.55-crore integrated bus terminus on Ranipet-Walajah Main Road opened for public use ahead of Deepavali. The old terminus, built more than five decades ago, lacked adequate facilities for commuters. S. Kumar, a commuter, praised the restored terminus for its improved seating arrangements and safety features.
Funded by Kalaignar Nagarpura Membattu Thittam 2022-23, the project began in 2022. The terminus now boasts round-the-clock surveillance, a help desk, purified drinking water, solar-powered LED streetlights, digital timing boards, a feeding room, and CCTV cameras. A police booth will also be set up soon. The terminus will serve buses to cities like Bengaluru, Vellore, Vandavasi, Cheyyar, Chengam, Arcot, Ranipet, Coimbatore, Salem, Kancheepuram, Hosur, and Dharmapuri.
On average, over 200 buses from Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation operate from the terminus daily. Commuters suggested adding more routes to towns such as Tiruvannamalai, Sholinghur, Arcot, Gingee, and Kancheepuram.
