KP to Launch Five Mobile Drug Testing Laboratories Next Week

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is set to deploy five mobile drug testing laboratories to bolster its medication surveillance system, according to a report published by ProPakistani. The new facilities aim to examine medicines in markets across the province for quality issues, such as substandard and counterfeit products. Nigar Johar Khan, the governor's adviser on health and population, inspected the newly equipped mobile laboratories during a visit to the Directorate General of Drug Control and Pharmacy Services on Friday.

The five laboratories will be officially launched at Governor House next Tuesday. The vans are equipped with advanced Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman technologies, enabling drug inspectors to conduct preliminary tests at the site. These tests involve analyzing the chemical composition, ingredients, and adherence to prescribed strength standards of medications.

Once suspicious or substandard medicines are identified through the initial screening, inspectors will collect samples and forward them to the Drug Testing Laboratory in Peshawar for comprehensive analysis and subsequent action.

Officials revealed that the mobile laboratories will be stationed in various divisions of the province, allowing inspectors to test medicines in local markets and other locations. This strategic deployment ensures that authorities can effectively monitor and maintain the quality of medications available to the public.
