Alcaraz sets up Paris Masters final clash with Shelton
Carlos Alcaraz beat former world number two Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4, while Ben Shelton saw off world number 47 Luca Van Assche 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
In Paris, Carlos Alcaraz declared that facing world number four Ben Shelton in the Paris Masters final represents one of the most exciting challenges in tennis. Alcaraz secured his spot in the final after defeating Casper Ruud in the semi-finals. This will be the first encounter between the two players since Shelton eliminated Alcaraz from his US Open title defense earlier in the season.
Alcaraz later told reporters, "Playing Shelton is one of the best challenges that we have in tennis right now." He added that he would need to maintain peak reflexes to counter Shelton's powerful serves. Alcaraz's controlled straight-sets win over Ruud showcased his methodical play and ability to convert crucial break points.
