2027: APC obsessed with Peter Obi, now turned to smear campaigns - Aisha Yesufu

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of fixating on Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate Peter Obi. In a statement posted on her official X handle, Yesufu alleged that the ruling party has now resorted to smear campaigns against Obi. She stated that the aggressive attacks on Obi indicate that the APC realizes rigging will not be an option, prompting them to shift to negative campaigning.

Yesufu noted that the recent pattern of attacks suggests the ruling party's concern over Obi's rising support heading into the 2027 presidential election. Earlier, Yesufu had warned that Obi's supporters would prevent a repetition of the alleged rigging seen in the 2023 election. She also vowed to closely monitor the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, with a skeptical eye, expressing no trust in the body responsible for overseeing the electoral process.
