Nigeria's U-17 women's football team captain, Harmony Chidi, has expressed that winning the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup would be a dream come true and an unforgettable moment for the country and the players. Ahead of the final against Japan at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, Chidi highlighted that reaching the final was a significant achievement but winning the trophy would make the occasion even more special.
Speaking to FIFA, Chidi emphasized that the victory would bring joy and pride to herself, her country, her teammates, and coaches. The Flamingos secured their place in the final by overcoming a 2-1 defeat to Poland in their opening match, recording five consecutive victories against Puerto Rico, DPR Korea, Mexico, Venezuela, and Brazil.
Nigerian coach Akeem Busari attributed the team's turnaround to psychological guidance, improved mentality, and renewed commitment to their game plan. Busari acknowledged Japan's quality but stressed that the outcome would depend on the teams' mentalities, character, and attitude during the match.
