Nigeria U-17 women's team captain, Harmony Chidi, has expressed that winning the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup would be a dream come true and an unforgettable moment for the country and the players. Speaking ahead of the Flamingos' final against Japan at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, Chidi emphasized that reaching the final was already a significant achievement, but winning the trophy would make the occasion even more special.
The Nigerian team secured their spot in the final after overcoming a 2-1 defeat to Poland in their opening match and recording five consecutive victories against Puerto Rico, DPR Korea, Mexico, Venezuela, and Brazil. Head coach Akeem Busari credited the team's turnaround to psychological guidance, improved mentality, and renewed commitment to their game plan.
He acknowledged Japan's quality but stressed that the outcome would largely depend on the teams' mentality, character, and attitude. Busari also highlighted the players as the driving force behind the achievement, urging them to maintain their fighting spirit and focus on completing the mission.
