He insists their encounter was consensual. With two conflicting accounts of the same night, the people around them must decide whom to believe. That battle for trust is at the centre of The Perfect Lie , a new K-drama…
The Perfect Lie is a new Korean drama set to air on Disney+ until December 5, following a weekly two-episode release schedule. The plot centers around a heart surgeon and a school librarian whose conflicting accounts of a night lead to a police investigation. To prepare for his role as the surgeon, South Korean actor Yoo Yeon-seok sought out real-life lie detector interviews.
Yoo explains, "Since the theme of the series is about a lie, I've watched some series around profilers, and I also watched some video clips of criminals being on the lie detector and being interviewed." His character, Joon-ho, is enigmatic, embodying shades of good and evil, providing a meaningful challenge for the actor. Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin, who plays the librarian, first collaborated a decade ago in Dr Romantic, a South Korean medical drama series.
Their chemistry rekindled interest among viewers, who hoped to see them work together again. Seo emphasizes the difference in their dynamic this time around, stating, "The chemistry or the dynamics between the two characters would be completely different from what we saw 10 years back." Yoo hopes the reunion will offer a fresh perspective on their roles.
The excitement for their return may also lead Yoo to revisit his Dr Romantic character or explore other opportunities with Seo. Their collaboration continues to delight fans, with The Perfect Lie now streaming on Disney+ across the Middle East.
