Portable’s baby mama Ashabi Simple begins NYSC programme

Nollywood actress Ashabi Simple, the baby mama of singer Portable, has commenced her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. Ashabi, whose real name is Akinyanju Omobolarinde, shared her participation with her followers on Instagram, expressing gratitude for this long-held personal ambition.

The actress shared that it took her five years after secondary school to start her university education, followed by three years after graduation before she embarked on this one-year national service programme. Ashabi recalls her mother's words, "Mo fe ke ka iwe, mo fe ke wo aso copper," which have continued to inspire her daily. She describes her NYSC service as a dream, a promise she made to herself, and a fulfilling moment for her.

Ashabi is currently serving at the Ogun State orientation camp in Sagamu. In her Instagram post, she expressed her joy and appreciation for the warm welcome she received. She recounted the various gestures of welcome, including hugs and free meals, and expressed her gratitude for the support she received. Ashabi highlighted that she feels honored to be a part of the programme and that her heart is full with joy.

The actress is a mother to two children with Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola Badmus. Their relationship has been marked by public disagreements, including a public assault accusation against Portable in January 2026. In September, Ashabi accused Portable of failing to provide adequate financial support for their children, leading to a demand for DNA tests to establish paternity before further support.
