MultiChoice has ended its family-friendly Africa Magic Family channel after 12 years, introducing a new entertainment channel Africa Magic+ in its DStv offerings. The closure was announced on Thursday via Africa Magic’s Instagram, marking the end of one chapter and the start of another. The channel expressed gratitude towards its viewers, stating that the closure would bring new content.
Africa Magic Family said, “Goodbye, Africa Magic Family,” before adding that the story was far from over. “Africa Magic Family is officially closed, there's so much more coming your way,” the post continued. The channel urged viewers to anticipate a more varied experience with Africa Magic+, scheduled to launch on November 5 at 6am West African Time.
The announcement concluded that the new channel would feature more stories, drama, and variety. Africa Magic Family, known for family-friendly Nollywood films, Nigerian drama series, and other African entertainment programmes, had built a loyal audience. The replacement channel, Africa Magic+, is expected to provide a broader mix of entertainment.
The change is part of a broader restructuring of DStv's channel line-up and subscription packages, which started on November 5, 2026.
