Israel government formation LIVE: Bennett-led B’Yachad, Arab parties back Eisenkot in PM race in setback for Netanyahu
Israel government formation LIVE: On the second day of consultations with Herzog on Friday (November 6), Representatives of the B'Yachad (Together) party, led by former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, endorsed Gadi Eisenkot to form the government.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog is set to announce his chosen candidate to form a government on Sunday, November 8, following a recent election that resulted in a deadlock. According to Middle East Eye, Herzog stated that opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot was selected by parties representing 67 of parliament’s 120 lawmakers, while factions representing 46 lawmakers backed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This situation arose after Israel's November 27 election failed to produce a clear majority for either Netanyahu or Eisenkot.
