ICE Qatar highlights engineering’s role in building a better future

Doha witnessed a gathering of industry leaders and engineering professionals as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Qatar highlighted the crucial role of engineering in enhancing quality of life and contributing to Qatar's development. The annual gathering celebrated professional achievements and underscored the significant impact of infrastructure on society.

President of the Institution of Civil Engineers, David Porter, attended the prestigious event, further strengthening the connection between Qatar's engineering community and the Institution's global network. ICE Qatar Chair, Dr. Khaled Alnaas, led the proceedings, emphasizing the vital contributions of engineering in improving everyday life.

Dr. Alnaas highlighted that engineering's greatest contribution lies in its ability to enhance public health, comfort, and dignity by providing reliable roads, transport networks, water supplies, and power systems. He noted that infrastructure allows people to spend more time together and creates safer, healthier communities. He stressed that engineering is about serving the people, rather than the other way around.

The event showcased Qatar's impressive infrastructure, including modern road networks, the Doha Metro, international airport, ports, and utilities. These achievements reflect Qatar's long-term vision and substantial investment in connecting communities, supporting economic growth, and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

The evening also showcased ICE's commitment to enriching Qatar's engineering community. Through technical lectures, site visits, mentoring, and support for Chartership and Fellowship, the Institution facilitates knowledge exchange, skill development, and upholds high standards of competence and ethics among professionals.
