Arizona’s Tommy Lloyd takes laundry list of learning lessons from first win of season vs. Cal Poly

In Arizona's first win of the season against Cal Poly, head coach Tommy Lloyd reflected on the important lessons learned from the hard-fought victory over the Cal Poly Spartans. After a loss to UCLA in the opening game, Lloyd's No. 5 Arizona Wildcats bounced back with a resounding 104-84 win at home. Motiejus Krivas, who returned to Arizona amid NBA speculation, was the team's leading scorer with 30 points and eight rebounds during the game.

During his post-game interview with Andy Katz, Lloyd expressed his satisfaction with securing the win and credited Cal Poly for their exceptional effort. He emphasized the need for the team to maintain their level of intensity throughout the game, acknowledging that letting up even once at this level is unacceptable. Lloyd also addressed the team's rebounding issues, stating that they must work on establishing a consistent effort to secure loose balls.

Despite rebounding at a 44-30 advantage, the Wildcats struggled from beyond the arc, converting only 4-of-14 attempts compared to their 7-of-30 performance against UCLA. Lloyd and the team will focus on improving their three-point shooting and getting to loose balls in their upcoming matchup against Northern Arizona on Tuesday.
