A century of books: Jashanmal Books presents Bridging the Gulf at Sharjah International Book Fair 2026

For over a century, the Jashanmal Books company has been an integral part of the Gulf region, tracing its roots back to the first store opened in Basra in 1919. At the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) 2026, Jashanmal Books is showcasing a new title: Bridging the Gulf: The Remaking of the India-UAE Relationship. The book, authored by former Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Suri, has been chosen by Jashanmal Books to distribute in the UAE.

The book delves into the historical connections between India and the UAE, spanning from the days when the Arabian Sea facilitated trade, migration, and cultural exchange to more recent diplomatic developments. It covers topics such as the role of the Indian rupee in regional trade, the significance of the gold trade, and the political factors that influenced the relationship between India and the UAE.

Shuja Jashanmal, CEO of the Jashanmal Group, expressed pride in the company's longstanding commitment to books, stating that they have remained a core offering throughout the company's history. He further emphasized Jashanmal Books' role in bringing the historical journey of India and the UAE to readers across the UAE.

Navdeep Suri, the book's author, highlights the book's unique perspective, explaining that it offers readers an appreciation of the deep-rooted historical connections between the two countries beyond the contemporary strategic and economic dimensions. The book launch is set to take place on November 7, 2026, at 4:30 pm in Al Fikr Hall, Expo Centre Sharjah. Jashanmal Books will handle the distribution of the book, which is already available in major bookstores across the UAE and through Jashanmal's online channels.
