TheGrain is a photo-editing software that adds authentic film-style grain to digital images. Founded by Andreas Gamsreiter, the tool aims to provide a more authentic grain effect than pre-made textures, by creating bespoke grain for individual images. TheGrain is designed to complement existing editing workflows, with a clean and straightforward user interface.
Users can select from a variety of pre-made film recipes, such as Kodak Gold 200, Fujifilm Pro 400H, or Kodak Ektar 100, and then customize the grain effect according to their preferences. The software runs entirely on the user's machine, without relying on cloud storage or AI. TheGrain allows users to control the size, texture, and color variation of the grain particles, as well as the intensity in different areas of the image, making it a versatile tool for achieving a variety of grain effects.
