Petaleding Jay: Aliff Daniel Adli, 21, who performed rituals of another religion to declare a public retraction or istitahawi. Also declaring a retraction, Aliff Daniel's mother, Rohizayanti Ramli, 52, and younger brother, Nur Ranea Ezreen Adli, 19, reported to Harian Metro. The declaration of retraction by Aliff, Rohizayanti, and Nur Ranea Ezreen took place at the Islam Religious Department of Selangor (Jais) at the Shah Alam Islamic Consultation and Islamic Mosque in Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

Aliff, Rohizayanti, and Nur Ranea Ezreen's retraction was witnessed by Mufti Selangor Anhar Opir; Islam Religious Department of Selangor (Mais) Deputy Secretary Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini and Exco Supervisory Committee Member Khadijah Khambali@Hambali. The declaration was also witnessed by Mais President Salehuddin Saidin; Jais Coordinator Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, and Jais Assistant Supervisor of Investigation and Development, Muhamad Sujak Muhamad Dasuki as main observers.

The execution of the istitahawi reflects the institution's approach that not only emphasizes the aspect of empowerment, but also gives attention to education, dissemination, counseling, advice, and rehabilitation of faith. Salehuddin emphasized in his remarks, faith is the foundation of belief, life guidance, and the fortress that shapes the identity of the Islamic community.

Earlier, Aliff was undergoing religious rehabilitation by the Lower Court Syariah Court of Gombak Barat after pleading guilty to the offense of performing idolatry. Justice Syarie Mohd Faizal Habib ordered the offender to undergo the punishment at the Baitul Iman Faith Restoration Centre, Ulu Yam, effective immediately. Based on the offense, he was accused of performing idolatry by worshipping other religious objects, performing rituals involving bodily adornment and prostration while raising both hands over a statue in a temple at Batu Caves between 9pm and 11pm on January 24, 2024.
