2027: Abia PDP backs Tinubu as APC inaugurates campaign council

On Thursday, the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) inaugurated its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council in Umuahia. Meanwhile, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared its support for President Bola Tinubu as their presidential candidate. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, presided over the inauguration of the 618-member state campaign council.

Kalu emphasized that President Tinubu had chosen them to work with him, highlighting the importance of Nigeria's reform. He declared Tinubu's selection a defining moment for the country and expressed confidence in the President's ability to win. Kalu stressed the strategic importance of the South-East region and urged for unity among the council members, warning that wrong calculations would lead to backwardness while right calculations would bring progress.

He called for allowing the President to complete his eight-year term to finish the reforms he initiated. Meanwhile, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Abraham Amah, announced the coalition of the PDP with the APC, reiterating their support for Tinubu's re-election. Amah stressed that no single organization could achieve success alone, and the partnership would enhance what they can secure for Abia State.
