2027: Abia PDP backs Tinubu as APC inaugurates campaign council

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) inaugurated its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council in Umuahia on Thursday. This comes as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced that they have adopted President Bola Tinubu as their presidential candidate. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, presided over the inauguration of the 618-member council.

Kalu stated that President Tinubu had chosen them to work with him, and he is confident that Tinubu will be elected president and successfully reform Nigeria. Kalu emphasized the strategic importance of the South-East region and called for unity across the Niger River to ensure the country's relevance. He urged the council to be united in purpose and remain focused.

The PDP deputy governorship candidate, Abraham Amah, announced that his party fully supports Tinubu's re-election and believes that the partnership between the PDP and APC will enhance the state's prospects and make it easier for the president to secure appointments for the leaders of Abia State. The campaign council coordinator, Chijioke Chukwu, described the event as a new beginning and highlighted the party's internal divisions in the past.

He thanked Kalu for his leadership and the President for giving him the position, stating that their shared goal is to win the 2027 presidential election and provide the state with increased bargaining power.
